Halo around the Sun
Anyone in Gauteng, South Africa would have been able to see this interesting phenomenon on the 1st November 2010 at around 11:00am. This is caused by diffraction of light through ice crystals in the troposphere. Pretty rare for South Africa in summer time! http://www.flickr.com/photos/reej/5135336794/ The scientific explanation is here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/22_degree_halo
